Your Councillors

The Council consists of 9 elected Members. Elections to the Parish Council are held every 4 years – the last in May 2021. Any vacancies that occur during the four years, known as 'casual vacancies', are filled by another election or by co-option of a new Member.

The full Parish Council meets on the third Tuesday of every month (except December). All meetings are held at St Andrews Church in Sharpness, subject to change (PLEASE CHECK AGENDAS FOR CONFIRMATION OF MEETING PLACE) starting at 7.00 pm and are open to the public. (2 mins per person)There are also Finance and Planning Committees that usually meets on the First Tuesday of every month, starting at 7.00 pm - these meetings are also open to the public. (2 mins per person)

The Council is led by a Chairman - currently Councillor Mr Paul Marsh.

Emily was co opted on to the Council in August 2020. Emily has lived in Purton most of her life but has recently moved.  She recently became a representative for the tourism group.

 

Paul was co opted onto the Council in May 2017. He was elected as Chair for HPC in 2020.  He lives over the marina. He is a member on the Finance & Planning committee, and attends the PCCM cluster group meetings. He also represents the Council on various committees, Gloucester Charter, Road Safety, Community policing group, & NDA

Mr Davey ( Mark)  was co opted in August 2019. Mark lives in Sharpness and is currently enjoying Parish Council life.

Mr Phillip Jenkins

Mr Jenkins was co opted onto the Council in July 2020, having spent a lot of his childhood in the area he is very passionate about the Parish.  Mr Jenkins recently moved back into the area and is keen to get stuck in to Parish Council life. Mr. Jenkins is also the new allotment officer.

Mr Birnie was co-opted onto the Parish Council in Jan 2021.  He has lived in the Parish eight years and is keen to take on the role as a Parish Councillor, he also likes spending time on his allotment

Mr. Billington applied to the Council via the election process in May 2021.  The PC had uncontested elections so therefore, Andrew automatically filled a seat.

Andy has lived in the parish for a number of years and enjoys spending time on his allotment

Martin is the Vice Chair of the Hinton PC, and also a member  on the Finance & Planning Committee, he is a representative on the Berkeley Burial Board.
Martin also deals with Allotment inquires,and has lived in the Parish all of his life.

Cllr Beard was co opted onto the Council. She is also a member of the Finance and Planning Committees. She is a representative on the Berkeley Burial board, Grammar School & wind Turbine committees.

Clerk to Hinton PC

Lesley passed the working with your council course in 2007. She has attended numerous courses since. Lesley likes to do her job well and hopes that she can get things sorted when asked to. Lesley has been doing this job for 17 years and is still enjoying it!!! Lesley has lived in Sharpness for over 20 years with her family. The Clerk gained the CILCA qualification in Feb 2014. This means that Hinton has a qualified Clerk. The Clerk also received the LCAS for Hinton PC.  Lesley recently got married in Cornwall, hence the name change.
